Town Departments
There are many ways that the Town of Georgia works to serve the community.  The following are the major departments of the Town, including a description of their main functions.  If you need information on, or assistance with, a particular Town function or service, this section of the website should be helpful to you.


Administration: Responsible for overall Town operations.  Administration staff include the Town Administrator, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer and Administrative Assistant.

Planning and Zoning
: Responsible for land development and building construction activities in the Town. Planning and Zoning staff include the Zoning Administrator and Town Planner.

Highway Department
: Responsible for maintenance and improvements of the Town's roads, bridges and culverts. Highway Department staff include the Road Commissioner, Road Foreman, mechanics and laborers.

: Located at 1697 Ethan Allen Highway, the Georgia Public Library is open Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Library staff includes the Head Librarian, Assistant Librarian and Childrens' Programming Coordinator.  You may also visit the Library's website at

Georgia Volunteer Fire Department
:  Located at 4134 Ethan Allen Highway, the Georgia Volunteer Fire Department meets the first three Thursdays of every month to address Business, Maintenance and Training in that order.

Georgia First Response:  Meets the 4th Thursday of every month at the Georgia Fire Station at 7:00 pm.  Meets 2nd Tuesday of every month for training at 7:00 pm.

Georgia First Response
Georgia First Response is a volunteer service that provides Advanced Life Support free of charge to the residents of the Town of Georgia.


2012 marked the 20th anniversary of the service.  Georgia First Repsonse was honored by the State of Vermont with the highest honor in the year of 2000 for First Response Service of the Year for the State of Vermont. 

The 11 dedicated  Emergency Medical First Responders respond at their best at the town residents' worst.  For more information, please contact Georgia First by email at or (802) 524-3524.
